IDENTIFICATION Head Pores - Cephalic head canal with pores B',C,D,E,F,H' and preopercle canal with pores M',N' Scales - very reduced number of scales; V-shaped patch on caudal peduncle; with vertical numbers of scales from posterior to anterior (4,3,2,1); four basicaudal scales present.

Fins - D1 - VII, no filaments elongate; D2 - 11; caudal segmented - 17; pectoral 16(15-17); anal - 10(9-10); pelvic I,5 all rays branched, disk complete, extending almost to anus.

Head - Anterior nostril a well developed tube; posterior nostril with a large opening; maxilla extending to middle or posterior of pupil; interorbital narrow less than 1/2 pupil diameter.

Papillae - A transverse pattern with three vertical rows anterior of row b none extending below the level of row d; row 5i/6i at the anterior of row b and not extending below row d;

Distribution - Dominica, Antigua and St. Barthelemy in the Lesser Antillies and from Jamaica (B&R); Smith 97 - Florida Keys, Bahamas, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, and Belize
