IDENTIFICATION Head Pores - Cephalic head pores with pores B',C,D,E,F, H'; no posterior ocularscapular pores; preopercle with pores M',N' Scales - Lateral scale series with 23 along the midline, no basicaudal scales present, scale rows may end before the caudal fin base. No scales on head.

Fins - D1 - VII, no spines filamentous; D2 - 11(11-12); anal 10(8-10); pectoral 17(16-19), rounded; pelvic I,5 extending 3/4 distance to anus.

Head - Teeth in upper jaw enlarged in outer row only, lower jaw with inlarged teeth in outer and inner row.

Papillae - Three vertical rows in front of row b; row 5i/6i continuous and under the middle of row b, extending below the level of row d; row d continuous.

Color -

Distribution - Known only from Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela and nearby areas.
