Fins - D1 - VII, not filamentous; D2 - 12(12-13); anal 10(9-10); pectoral 20(18-20); pelvic I,5 reaching almost to anus Head - Maxillae extending to posterior of eye; small barbel in front of eye on upper lip; Papillae - Color - 7-9 dark small spots along midline; small dark spot on top of pectoral fin base, a less intense spot at mid-pectoral fin base; body speckled with melanophores in vertical bars; head speckled side of head brown; body with alternating gray-brown and white bars; a midlateral row of small dark spots (in middle of each brown bar); first dorsal fin frequently with large black spot on basal half. (A&R 1994) Distribution - Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Panama near the Canal, La Paita, Peru, and Costa Rica. Recent collections have not found G. nudum in the Atlantic.
